The phlebotomy training program is broken into three segments: 60 hours of online lectures/exercises and 100 hours of externships (must have 100 successful, unaided blood collections including venipunctures and skin punctures). Students will be trained to collect, transport, handle and process blood and other specimens for laboratory analysis using venipuncture and micro collection techniques.

National Association and Certification Exams
The Phlebotomy Training program prepares students for multiple practice roles and national certifications. As an entry-level clinical profession this program is ideal for students in the allied health care field. The National Certification examinations require that students should have a high school diploma or completed the General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
The exams student could be eligible include:
• American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
• Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT)
