The REEF Aquarium Program
Dates: February 8, 2018
Meets: Th from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM
Location: Lyons Science 105
The REEF at FSU is one of the few places in Central North Carolina to experience a coral reef and interact with reef organisms.
The new 1400 sq ft facility is home to two large reef aquariums (300 and 180 gallons) where visitors learn how a coral reef grows, identify some of the reef organisms, handle coral skeletons, and hear how corals are being studied for their use in medicine.
Our 120 gallon "touch tank" offers the optional opportunity to hold and touch brittle stars, sea urchins, and several species of crabs and lobsters.
The REEF accomodates groups of 30 and the program lasts 50 minutes.
THE LYONS SCIENCE BUILDING WILL BE UNDERGOING RENOVATION DURING 2018 BUT THE REEF WILL STILL BE ACCESSIBLE.
Additional times are available by special request and arrangement with the REEF Director, Dr. Stephen Salek, at email@example.com or (910) 672-2103.
When you "Enroll" please designate information about your group (school, grade, special interest) in the "Special Needs" section of your profile. You can update that area under My Account if you've already registered.
