Central Sterile Processing with Externship

CSP technicians decontaminate, inspect, assemble and sterilize instruments and surgical trays. The technician also manages inventory control, orders supplies, inspects, maintains and delivers, and retrieves equipment from the surgery suite, emergency room, and intensive care units. This allows them to ensure the efficient management, storage and maintenance of medical devices.  This program is allocated into classroom participation, lab simulations to identify, clean, and store surgical and other common usable instruments that require sterility. Some topics covered in this program include anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, infection prevention and control, tools for cleaning, safety and decontamination. Graduates of this program will have understanding of central service workflow, basic job knowledge and skills, basic job responsibilities and central service concerns.
CPS Tier I: 220 hours
• 100 hours didactic
• 120 hours simulation lab/externship
